Nominations for Watford's Audentior Awards close on Friday 25 September, across nine categories. The council's own awards pages do not carry that date anywhere.
Watford Borough Council is taking nominations for its Audentior Awards until Friday 25 September, and that date is not on the awards pages themselves. It appears once, in the council’s news release of 2 September, and nowhere in the nine pages of the awards section it sends people to.
If you want to put someone forward, you have 13 days from today.
The ceremony is on Friday 26 February 2027. The council has not published a venue. The most recent Audentior ceremony on the council’s news pages was on 7 February 2025, at Watford Palace Theatre, and its release this month calls the awards a “return”.
The nine categories, and who is paying for them
Seven of the nine categories carry a named sponsor. The Carer of the Year award and the Mayor’s Award do not.

Two of those sponsors already hold council work. Veolia collects the borough’s waste and manages its parks: the council’s own service pages list it under waste collection, and it reported in July that Veolia had received 17 Green Flag Awards for parks and open spaces across the town. The Harlequin is the town centre shopping centre. Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden sits about 2.7 miles north west of the town centre, in Leavesden, which is in Three Rivers district rather than Watford borough.

Anyone based in Watford can be nominated, as an individual, a group or an organisation. The council’s own wording is that the one thing every nominee should share is “the quality of being extraordinary in their commitment, dedication, energy and effort”.

Getting to it from the council’s own pages takes more clicks than it should. The news release button labelled “Submit your nomination here” goes to the Audentior Awards landing page, which lists the nine categories with no form on it. You then open a category page and click “Nominate online today!” to reach the form. Neither the landing page nor any of the nine category pages carries the 25 September deadline, which we checked on all nine on 12 September.
So: use the form link above, and do not rely on the council’s pages to tell you when it shuts.
What the name means
The awards take their name from the word on the borough’s coat of arms, which is mounted on the front of Watford Town Hall and appears in the photograph at the top of this page. Audentior is Latin for “more boldly”.
