Watford's free display is Saturday 7 November in Cassiobury Park, music 6pm, fireworks 7.30pm. The parking bans, the road ban times and a wrong date to ignore.

Watford’s free fireworks display is on Saturday 7 November 2026 in Cassiobury Park. Live music starts at 6pm and the fireworks go up at 7.30pm. Entry is free, there is no ticket and there is nothing to book.

The date is confirmed twice over by the council. Watford Borough Council’s own Dates of Watford’s Big Events page lists Cassiobury Fireworks against 7 November 2026, and the council’s events site Watford Actually gives the same date with a 6pm to 8pm window.

Note that this is two days after Bonfire Night itself, which falls on Thursday 5 November 2026. Watford has run its display on the nearest Saturday in each of the last three years.

Ignore the “Saturday 1 November” on the town centre listing

The Watford Town Centre event page for the display (watfordtowncentre.com) has the right date in its header, Saturday 7 November 2026, but the body text underneath still reads “Join us in Cassiobury Park on Saturday 1 November”. That is last year’s date left in place: 1 November 2026 is a Sunday, so it cannot be this year’s event. Go by 7 November.

Vibe 107.6FM hosts the stage from 6pm with live music. Before the display there are food and drink outlets, children’s funfair rides, bungee trampolines and a bouncy slide.

Watford Lions Club and other volunteers collect for charity on the night. The council says 100 per cent of donations go to local charities, and that you can still give through its JustGiving page if you miss the collectors.

One thing the council does not advertise: a bonfire. Every official listing describes a fireworks display with a funfair and a stage, and none of them mentions a bonfire being lit. Treat this as a fireworks night, not a bonfire.

Parking: the restrictions start early, and they are wide

This is the part people get caught by. From the council’s own event listing:

  • No parking in the Gade Avenue car park from 3pm, apart from a limited number of blue badge spaces on a first come, first served basis.
  • Parking restrictions on the roads around the park from 7am to 11pm. That is a sixteen-hour window, not an evening one.
  • The council’s advice is to park in one of the public car parks in the town centre instead.

The council also notes on its Cassiobury Park travel page that parking enforcement is active in the surrounding streets. Residential roads near the park are not a free overflow car park on the night.

Getting there without a car

The council lists these distances for Cassiobury Park:

  • Watford Underground station (Metropolitan line): 100 metres. This is by some distance the easiest way in, and it is the one to use on 7 November.
  • Watford Junction: 0.8 miles.
  • Watford High Street: 1 mile.
  • Bus: the 352 stops outside Watford Underground station, 300 metres from the park.
  • Beryl Bikes: the council’s hire scheme has bays across the town and recommends it for park trips. There is a charge for parking outside a Beryl Bay.

How big this actually is

The council calls it Hertfordshire’s largest free fireworks display, and the scale is real. After the 2023 display the council reported estimated crowds of more than 30,000, with a 20-minute display by Frontier Fireworks. The 2024 event ran on Saturday 2 November and the 2025 event on Saturday 1 November, so this is an unbroken annual fixture rather than something at risk.

The elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, gave a second reason for keeping it free when the council announced the 2025 display: “It is also good for pets and wildlife as it means there are fewer private displays across the town.”

What is still to be confirmed

The council has published the date, the times and the parking rules. It has not yet published the 2026 stage line-up, the fireworks contractor or any sponsor. That detail comes in a council news release: for the 2024 display it was published on 4 October, and for the 2025 display on 24 October. So expect the 2026 line-up during October. Two details from the 2025 release worth watching for again: local band Pat & The Butchers followed Vibe on stage from 6.30pm, and QR code posters for charity donations were put up at every entrance to the park.
