The best-known attraction near Watford does Christmas on a grand scale. Hogwarts in the Snow runs from Saturday 14 November 2026 to Sunday 17 January 2027 at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Leavesden, with the original Harry Potter sets dressed for Christmas. Tickets must be booked in advance, and the festive extras are included in the standard price.

What is different at Christmas
According to the Studio Tour’s Hogwarts in the Snow page:
- the Great Hall is decorated with towering Christmas trees, a festive feast and flaming puddings, with Harry and Ron at a game of wizard chess
- the Gryffindor and Slytherin common rooms carry garlands, wreaths and Christmas cards made by the film crew
- visitors can practise the Yule Ball waltz in the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom
- the Hogwarts castle model is covered in filmmaking snow, with a tiny snowman hidden somewhere new on it each year
- new for 2026, a session on the Backlot stage explains how the films’ festive sound effects were made

The price rises on 1 January. Hogwarts in the Snow runs until 17 January, so a family visiting in the first half of January pays the 2027 rate: £192 rather than £188.
The Studio Tour says the average visit lasts about three and a half hours, with no time limit.
The Christmas dinners have sold out
Dinner in the Great Hall returns on four December evenings: a family dinner on Friday 4 December for children aged 8 and over, and adults-only dinners on 7, 8 and 9 December. The Studio Tour lists all four as sold out.
Getting there from Watford
The Studio Tour is at Studio Tour Drive, Leavesden, WD25 7LR, just over the borough boundary in Three Rivers. Its getting here page says:
- Shuttle bus from Watford Junction, electric, included in the ticket. Around 15 minutes, at least every 30 minutes from 9.20am, and from 8.15am when the first tour is at 9am. The last bus back leaves when the tour closes.
- By car: parking is free outside the entrance; bring your booking confirmation. Priority parking next to the entrance costs £10 and must be booked online in advance.
- By train from London: direct trains from Euston to Watford Junction take about 20 minutes, and Oyster is valid on that route.
Christmas week needs care. There are no trains on Christmas Day and very few on Saturday 26 December; see our Christmas travel page before relying on the train.
Opening days
The Studio Tour’s hours change through the year and it closes on some days for maintenance or to redress the sets. It publishes each day on its opening times calendar, which could not be read automatically for December when we checked. Look there before booking, especially around Christmas Day.
Before the snow: Dark Arts
Until 8 November the tour runs its Halloween feature, Dark Arts, with over 100 floating pumpkins in the Great Hall. The after-hours Nox evenings on 29 to 31 October are sold out.
