Watford’s free Halloween show is on Saturday 31 October, 5pm to 6pm, at Pondside on The Parade, and this year it comes with a free haunted house. What is on in the town centre
Watford Town Centre BID runs the trail and the show, and the council runs Market Lates. All three are free, and none of them needs a ticket.
Trick or Treat Trail, 26 to 30 October
The BID puts ten large inflatable ghosts in shop windows along the High Street and The Parade over half-term week, from 10am to 4pm. When you spot one, go into the shop and say “trick or treat” to a member of staff, and they will give your child a sweet. Fancy dress is encouraged.
Send the BID a selfie of your group with a ghost in the background to enter a draw for a £100 Watford Gift Card. Each ghost counts as a separate entry, so finding all ten gives you ten entries. You can enter on WhatsApp (07526 738563), by email to enquiries@watfordtowncentre.com, or by tagging @WatfordTownCentre on Instagram with #WatfordTrickOrTreatTrail from a public account. The winner is announced the week after half term.
The BID says the trail is only on the High Street and The Parade. There are none on the side roads or inside Harlequin. (Watford Town Centre BID)
Halloween Market Lates, Friday 30 October
Watford Market stays open from 6pm to 10pm on Friday 30 October for a Halloween edition of Market Lates. The council’s release of 2 October lists:
- free face painting from 6pm to 8pm and a roaming magician
- live music from singer-songwriter Abbie Gathard, 6pm to 7.30pm, then Scratch, a 90s v 00s covers band
- Caribbean, Asian and Korean street food from the market’s traders, with Halloween specials
- a pop-up bar, plus a Mad Squirrel beer truck with a separate bar
Entry is free and fancy dress is encouraged. The council and Saunders Markets organise it. (Watford Borough Council)
Trick or Treat Show, Saturday 31 October
The BID’s Halloween street show runs from 5pm to 6pm at Pondside, The Parade, on Halloween night. Its listing promises free street performances, including Halloween dances and a contortionist, plus a free haunted house, which is new this year. Come in costume and bring a carved pumpkin for a chance to win Watford Gift Cards. (Watford Town Centre BID)
The council’s Market Lates release also mentions a fire-breathing finale, but it calls the show “Saturday 30 October”. The 30th is a Friday. The BID’s own listing gives Saturday 31 October, and the BID runs the show, so go by that date.
Halloween at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour
The studio tour at Leavesden, just over the borough boundary, runs Dark Arts until 8 November. The Great Hall has more than 100 floating pumpkins, and Death Eater performers appear around the tour. Expect pyrotechnics at Hagrid’s hut, the Hogwarts Express and Diagon Alley, and a Dementor demonstration with smoke effects in the Forbidden Forest. The studio says the extras are included in the standard ticket, which must be booked ahead.
The after-hours Nox evenings on 29, 30 and 31 October (£150) are sold out. (Warner Bros. Studio Tour: Dark Arts, Nox)
Hogwarts in the Snow follows from 14 November. Ticket prices and the free shuttle from Watford Junction are on our Hogwarts in the Snow page.

Watford has no pumpkin patch of its own. These are the nearest two that publish their 2026 dates:

Tickets are £8.15 to £11.20 and must be pre-booked. On Thursday 29 October, 6.30pm to 9.30pm, the farm runs Moonlit Pumpkins, an evening session with live music and a bar. (The Pop Up Farm booking site)
Willows Activity Farm, London Colney. The Pumpkin Festival runs on 10 and 11, 17 and 18, and 23 to 31 October, with a Halloween maze, a Halloween disco, character shows and a tractor ride. Each paid child admission includes one free standard pumpkin from the patch. Willows does not list its prices on the festival page; they appear at booking. A separate pre-school pumpkin event runs on term-time weekdays. (Willows Activity Farm)
