Remembrance Sunday falls on Sunday 8 November 2026. Watford’s main service has been held at 3pm at the Peace Memorial outside the Town Hall in each of the last three years, after a parade up from St Mary’s Church. The council has not yet published this year’s arrangements.

What happens at the Peace Memorial
In 2025 the council’s announcement set out the service: the Royal British Legion and other organisations laid wreaths at the Peace Memorial, there was a two-minute silence, and the Elected Mayor and the Chairman of the Council gave readings. The Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire attended.
The council’s report of the day says hundreds of people paraded from the town centre to the memorial. The Watford Band played the Last Post, and wreaths were laid by the Watford branch of the Royal British Legion, each of the emergency services, Gurkha ex-servicemen and the Interfaith Association, alongside cadet, Guide and Scout groups.

The 2023 list had the same churches and the same 3pm town service, with the parade setting off earlier, at 2.15pm.

The Peace Memorial is outside Watford Town Hall on Rickmansworth Road. Tariffs for the Town Hall car park, including its free 30-minute short stay, are on our parking in Watford page.
